Dr. Kirkland Named Partner
Known for providing the best in veterinary care, Cy-Fair Animal Hospital is deepening its commitment to empowering Black women entrepreneurs in veterinary care. Dr. Bianca Kirkland, a Houston native passionate about veterinary medicine and education, has been named primary practicing veterinarian and part-owner at a PetSmart Veterinary Services Hospital powered by Cy-Fair Animal Hospital in Houston, TX.
Dr. Kirkland’s ascent to ownership is pivotal in an industry where diversity is sparse. “Dr. Kirkland’s leadership is paving the way for more equitable representation in veterinary care and beyond,” said Dr. Diarra Blue. “This is an industry where less than 2% of the industry is black. Diverse ownership enables more inclusive spaces, allowing individuals to feel more comfortable and understood.”
“For young black girls, I am the biggest advocate for following your dreams,” said Dr. Kirkland. “If you love animals, you feel like this is your passion, and this is something that you want to pursue, reach out to me. Let’s make it happen.”
Dr. Kirkland looks forward to serving the community. Her leadership, enriched by a relentless passion for educating pet parents, is poised to offer several services, including preventative and emergency care, internal medicine, vaccinations, spay/neuter services, dental cleanings, and more at the Houston PVS location.
“We are here to help educate you, provide necessary medical care for your four-legged loved ones, and, of course, give them extra cuddles whenever possible!”
The PetSmart Veterinary Services Hospital grand opening celebration is Saturday, Oct. 7, from noon to 2 p.m. central. The community is invited to meet Dr. Kirkland and her team of veterinarians and staff and to acquaint themselves with the comprehensive range of PVS offerings.
